Congrats!!

This weekend went to check few cars with my daughter, quite a nice bonding time.
Her only requirement was: "Must have 4 doors and roof rack."
We were bad parents so she is only getting car now in second year.
So far on top of the list is 2 year old Renault Sandero.

Good luck with uni, wife being in that filed and working with interns.
It is not easy calling.
Rip and here I am still using my parents car.

Was yours a serious question?
And what has that got to with the OP's daughter? And going by what you are saying all those things can't happen with an old car?

Guys if you can't afford it's cool, let those that can afford do as they please. I can't believe people want the OP to feel bad about purchasing a nice car for his daughter.

I think it was more a point of not “wasting” money by having a new car get wrecked by a reckless / irresponsible teen. Not a reflection on OPs daughter at all, I don’t know them, just a commentary on the way young people usually treat their cars.

I don’t think anyone truly begrudges OP getting his daughter a good car. And I agree, if he has the money then get her the best you can. It’s what I’d do.

Ya, the OP's daughter is quite irresponsible, 7 distinctions and off to study medicine!

New or old, any car can get wrecked. Also insurance is there for a reason, risk mitigation. And IF an accident does happen, where you you rather have your kid be in, a newer safer car or an old job a setbelt and an airbag or 2?

Not sure why you're challenging me on points other people made but hey, have at it new guy. Nobody said she personally is irresponsiboe, or at least I didn't.

I was providing context to your question, that's all.

Anything else you want to have a cry about? Take a seat, I'm listening.

Dude, you jumped on sarcastically on a genuine question I was asking now you want to pull a new guy card on the internet, grow up.

You stated all sorts of negative things as to why the OP's shouldn't have gotten a new car, irresponsible teens, etc.

More like anything else you wanna cry about? OP got a new car, congratulate and move on, no should haves and shouldn't haves.

No, you asked why people assumed an 18 year old would treat their new car poorly. I gave you examples of why that MAY be the case, based on that having been the case in many many many instances before. Surely you aren't blind to these things happening?

I never once said she shouldn't get a new car. At least I don't recall saying anythign of the sort, if I did please do quote me so I can review my posts in that regard.

How old are you out of interest?

I'm sure stats would point to a small percentage of that happening, and when it does happen it happens regardless of the car being new or old.

I asked why the other guy was saying OP should have gotten an older car and the reasons you gave were in support of why OP should have gotten an older car. Surely comprehension and context are not difficult concepts to grasp.

Old enough to realise when a conversation is going nowhere slowly. Enjoy your day further.

My answer was purely in terms of why people typically would recommend a cheaper car as a first car, not a support of his statement. Surely context and comprehension are not difficult concepts to grasp.

Have a good day bro.

Oh Lordy, you still harping on like a old palooka with nothing better to do. You are the one who keeps having to resort to insults which is very telling of your character.
