From Pocket PC Addict Daily News....

So you think your Internet connection is fast? It might be, but you'd be hard pressed to beat a carrier pigeon for transfer speeds. At least that's what a group of Israeli self proclaimed "Internet Addicts" say. They took a group of 3 homing pigeons and bundled them up with memory cards with a total memory of 4 Gigabytes. Then they set the pigeons on their track to home, resulting in a - get this - TCP (Transmission by Carrier Pigeons) rate of 2.27 Mbps (Mega bit per second)!

"The TCP (Transmission by Carrier Pigeons) was carried wirelessly, in three packets, each consist of 1.3 GB, delivered by a different pigeon. The conditions of the experiment were clear: "The time of the transmission would be measured by the last pigeon to arrive; the data contained in the memory cards would be available and readable at the destination". No external sources of energy, such as batteries or electrical extension cord were to be used! The technology eliminated the need for cat 5 or fiber-optic cables!"

This is a fun read, and proves what length addicts will go to to make a point! Any comments?

I can just see someone in Telkom freaking out about this, asking "How can we regulate carrier pigeons?". [:)]

Thanks for the post hilton!

If only there was a way to do that in realtime ;)

For large data transfer (of which there is no end product until the transfer is well and truly done), then yes, that would work, and be pretty quick to boot :) however, for products that are just in time... nah, unfortunately not :p

But funny nonetheless. I guess in Israel they have lots of spare time on their hands.

Well with my Capped Conection at present, I can throw a stone at the Local Telkom Exchange faster than I can view international webpages.
