When I still used my L720 I used to get Windows Phone updates via Vodacom, after they tested and released the update. I'm curious to know what the current status is for the release of Windows 10 Mobile on supported devices, any info? I know that one can join the Insider program on the release ring, and then exit again as an alternative.

As far as I know, th W10M OS is updated directly via Microsoft, but the phone firmware is still reliant on carrier approval.

Thanks Mustang, my brother-in-law is getting a L640 today from Vodacom as a replacement for his L830 that was stolen. I've got no clue whether it's got 8.2 on or Mobile 10, will check as soon as he gets it.

The L640 came with 8.1, then I installed the Upgrade Advisor app that bootstrapped the upgrade. After that, when you check for updates in settings, the download starts.

PS First time I'm doing a remote upgrade via TeamViewer and Project my Screen app, quite nifty :D
