All the cars made in South Africa

There are currently 16 distinct car models being made by nine major vehicle manufacturers in South Africa.

Following slumps in 2020 and 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the local manufacturing industry bounced back and rolled out over half a million new vehicles last year.

I was wondering about the Amarok. Also, does Nissan still make the NP300 in SA? They no longer sell it here.

A while ago. But you can hardly call it manufactured. It's an assembly plant. i.e. just about the whole vehicle is imported and SA just fits the finishing touches.

Yeah, I think the objective is for the manufacturer to earn credits to import other models cheaper. Import credits or export credits.

Only reason manufacturing happens here is for the credits. Take that away and we'll go full Australia with every factory closing up and shipping their robots to other overseas facilities.

Not really. We do get a lot of rebates by ordering part by part. And then there is also component exports. The major manufacturers actually sell the rebate certificates to the CKD plants.
