Cheapest cars to service in South Africa

The Automobile Association of South Africa (AA) has released its Spare Parts Pricing Guide that provides part pricing across ten categories of vehicles, including electric cars.

The guide — researched and published by the AA — covers the cost of service, maintenance, and body repair parts.

Servicing is actually not a big issue on most cars, it's repairs that are a big deal, so an article about most likely repairs and parts would be more useful.
Their document does actually include body part repairs

Various of the tabs are just empty - seems Sharepoint is not the way to share? PDF is the normal way to share non-editable docs.

Very strange document. Most people buyin a new executive SUV will have a full maintenance plan, with their only expenses being Fuel and tires. Infact any car moderately fancy with have a standard or optioned comprehensive motorplan. They will often trade up before it expires or sell when something goes wrong

When I picked up my car from my preferred workshop the other day, it occurred to me that, since they have everything computerized, they are sitting on treasure trove of information in terms of what are the most common things that are breaking on various brands of cars, models and year models and would make for a an extremely interesting read, if they were able to collate it all into a report of that nature..

A commonly given advantage of electric cars is the lower servicing costs. That BMW i3 has the highest serving parts cost of all the cars listed. The AA site also shows that it is the cheapest of the electric cars for these parts.

I think it is true that they can go for long without being serviced, but the manufacturers are not going to allow it so they will engineer some stuff to make it need frequent services.

I'm sure that they already use something like this to order in parts, so they don't stock the stuff they never use. At least at a headoffice level. If they don't, then.. Well.. 1975 called, they want their stock management back.

From all the times I had cars with them, they always only ordered whatever was needed after inspection of the vehicle.. they don't seem to carry stock on hand.. likely don't have the space for it.. don't blame them though.. they work on absolutely every make and model and carrying stock on hand to cover all that, would be problematic..

would love to know why Hyundai only has a 15k service plan instead of the 60k...was one of the reasons my mom went with the i20 back in the day...
