Hi folks

I have uploaded the recent Carte Blanche insert regarding Telkom to MyBroadband. The link is under the new ‘media’ page on MyADSL (http://www.myadsl.co.za). If you do not see the media link it means that you are accessing a cached page. Simply shift-refresh MyADSL, visit http://www.mybroadband.co.za or delete your cached files and try again… If you are not interested in the other media reports you can access this file at http://www.mybroadband.co.za/media/cb.zip It is rather large so it is advisable to make use of a download manager…

Regards,

Mine took 1 hour 36min - 5.88KB/s ... grrrr, while better it's still what I get with a cheap mustek modem and DiscoveryWorld as isp .... yummy.

I must admit I was quite surprised by the speed. Who's hosting www.mybroadband.co.za and where?
If I can only get overnet to do close to half of that....
I'm more and more convinced that sentech slows down p2p traffic, but not normal multithreaded downloads.

Nope, p2p on gnutella is definitely not slowed down...In fact p2p gives me the best results, even better than multithread http.

But I don't usually use p2p, so no f$%^ing use to me!

guys thats the nature of the product (and the root of the problem). One guy can think his p2p is being shaped, another downloads GBs a day and others cant even browse. One thing that is constant is the speed limit on a single thread. I have seen up to 7KB/sec on ONE thread and that was in emule.

LooseCannon, I encoded it with divx5, mpeg2 or wmv are not as good at compression, without breaking the quality too much, its currently requires 3MB per minute of video.
If you need something much smaller, let me know, I can encode it at a much smaller size/bitrate for portable devices, or a different codec (.wmv) . Once again, RPM needs to be in the loop to host both versions.

How to be a Telscum spokesperson:

Step 1: Open mouth
Step 2: Insert foot

Damn! these people can talk absolute hogwash! How the hell can you be competitive if you don't have any competitors?!! How is the weather on your planet today lady!?

*mumble*
