But I heard on the radio this morning that they think she'll still be able to compete as long as she has an operation to remove the male bits. Not sure how true that is...

I also wondered about that... i'm sure she can.

I feel for this poor lady. She will never compete again because of this, even if the tests shows she's a woman!

I wish her all the best!

however it will likely generate huge debate and speculation if he is disqualified. Fixed that for you.

...and then of course you will get those to whom the results are unimportant as they have already made up their minds and who are ignorant enough to believe it is as cut and dried as saying you are a man and you are a woman.... ;)

Very interesting to also read this online :

Daniels also said he knew from a source within the IAAF that five other athletes had undergone sex verification tests.

"You don't hear about the other athletes; why is Caster the exception?" But it doesn't matter, because she is not guilty of anything, God just made her in such a way."

Sports scientist Ross Tucker yesterday said that he had "serious questions" about the Semenya hermaphrodite reports, which he believed "potentially simplified" her true gender status.

Bottom line is that the media are a bunch of blood thirsty arseholes who do not have an inkling of a conscience as to what effect they have on a human being with their reporting! They just want to sell papers. And the biggest problem is that the media only provides what the people want and as we can see by a lot of the people that post on this forum most of them also do not have respect for anyone or anything other than themselves.

While I feel extremely sorry for Semenya, there can be no doubt that ASA as well as Semenya are a bunch of cheats.

How can a 'girl' reach the age of 18, have a deep voice, look like a male and never have a period without realising something was up?

Again... read my comments above about some people thinking gender is as simple as either being a man or a woman... it isn't. What people also fail to realise is that even if the IAAF says that she cannot compete as a woman again, this does not mean she is a man!

And out of interest the IAAF are at pains to state that no matter the outcome they will not take back her medal as she has in no way cheated. So for you to call her a cheat is rather interesting.

Here is something we agree on. It's rather inhumane and really disgusting what the IAAF are doing. Maybe thats why I "hate" the International media and Sports bodies so much. They (media and sportsbodies) will use anything to put other smaller sports countries down when someone is on a winning streak even by attacking Sports Athletes personally and do special tests to ruin their reputations. Even If She was/is cleared the Stigma would remain and haunt her for life.

Did she even care about or considered it? Hell i have heard of woman going into labour without even knowing they were pregnant.

I sincerely hope that the youngster is being counselled and receiving support from everyone. This is not due to any fault on her part.

She has my support.

I have never seen any statement from the IAAF that has been remotely thought to "put down" smaller sports bodies. The question is about whether her competing is fair for the other competitors who are indisputably female.
The women she races against want to know. That's the issue.

EDIT: There's not any question she ever cheated or should be denied of her medal.

Well there is many other female athletes that looks and probably are the same stereotype as the incumbent then there are even more that use testorone and other stimulants to enable them to compete with an advantage. So I never ever heard that a athlete got singled out because he/she is not 100% gender stock. Maybe the IAAF must organize a one of a kind yearly freak show so all athletes that do not meet their description of a human beign can compete as they will probably also object if she competes under the men and paraplegic slots. Hmmm?

With internal testes, if the reports are true, there are apparently potentially serious health issues.
What is astonishing is that an athlete can reach the levels she has without anyone of her coaches, trainers, or administrators encouraging her to look at her situation in depth.
How come that since 2005 the IAAF 'investigated' 8 other athletes for gender issues and we don't even know their names? Most likely it is because, unlike Caster, they had people around them who thought a bit and planned ahead.
