Machinery manufacturer Caterpillar are usually known for their heavy-duty equipment, though this time around sees the release of their all-new S60 smartphone with built-in FLIR thermal imaging.

The rugged CAT S60 device takes what was once a pricey accessory mainly used by law enforcement, and turns it into a handy addition through the Lepton sensor, which allows FLIR cameras to see in complete darkness.

Kitted out with a chunky 3,800 mAh battery, a steel frame, and 4.7-inch Gorilla Glass display screen, the tough device can easily withstand a drop onto hard concrete from a height of just over 5.5 feet....

Wonder what the distance is. Your thought was my first as well.
Would be great for the spruit and our Boardwalk Dam area.

Yeah, once someone is in the spruit area its so hard to find them, even with police dogs.

I assume the distance with be good enough for use in the spruit.
