Hello Everyone

I have recently proposed to my gf and we haven't really started planning or even really set a date yet. We live just along the outskirts of the Durban Metro area but on opposite ends and I am Catholic. Looking at setting a date in early 2015, in either Durban or Umhlanga.

As we live 60 KM apart, I was looking at a few centrally located Catholic churches in Durban. I am looking for a church with a nice hall so we can have the wedding ceremony and reception in the same place so we can avoid people skipping out after the wedding, getting lost etc. We were thinking this would help to avoid those inevitable delays.

This is a Catholic wedding, so it would need to be a Catholic church. And no, I am not asking anyone here to help me plan my wedding, I just need help finding an ideal location based on my criteria. Google does not seem to help, which is why I have turned here for help finding a good church-with-hall combination. I have found churches and halls seperately, close to me, close to her and central but will come back to this if I can't find a feesible Church+Hall.

Any positive comments/advice/reccomendations are welcome in the context of planning a Catholic wedding. Please can we avoid de-railing this with religious discussions.

Thanks,

I dont see how or why this can become a religious discussion when you are simply looking for a church to get married in, but i cant help you with your venue.Just for interest sakes, how long have you'll been dating?

Everything on here eventually becomes a religious discussion so just covering my bases. We have been dating for almost 5 years.

There's also a Catholic Church on Florida Road, and Our Lady of Fathima in Durban North, though I don't know if they hold weddings there and what the reception situation is.

Also - OT - why try to keep people there who don't want to be there?

Assumption Parish Hall on the corner of Queen Mary Avenue and Nicolson Road..

Nice old Catholic Church.... in a central location. Have seen a good few weddings happen at the place. There is also quite a few locations around there to have a reception. Port Natal High, The Portuguese club, the Varsity halls.. etc

**EDIT** apologies, it is actually called Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Parish
