CD Projekt shares plunge after Cyberpunk 2077 bugs force refunds

CD Projekt SA shares plunged for a third straight session after a slew of technical glitches in its long-awaited Cyberpunk 2077 game led the Polish developer to apologise and offer refunds to dissatisfied console gamers.

The shares fell 11% to 284 zloty at 1:17 p.m. in Warsaw and have now lost 33% of their market value since the first Cyberpunk reviews were published last week, erasing all but a fraction of this year’s gains. The game became available on Thursday, the studio’s first major new title since 2015.

As soon as pre-orders opened this was inevitable. No decision they could have made after that would have prevented this as they couldn't have delayed it any more without risking people cancelling preorders en masse because they wouldn't be able to have the game before christmas, not to mention the loss in sales not having the game for sale before the holiday season.

Somebody just made a bad estimation on when the game would be ready and should have delayed opening pre-orders until they had a better idea when it would realistically have been ready.

That's why I really admired Rockstar a few years ago when they delayed the release of GTA5.

Should have only launched on pc and next generation consoles.
They might have been put in this situation by them. Quite a few examples out there of backing yourself into a corner and/or being backed into a corner with whom you are in bed. Now I suppose I should walkthrough such an example.

Agony PC. Was good to perfect as it was, promised as m-rated for adults. Then they got the console market involved and ms/sony told then to cut that tits right out of hell. This was actually such an egg on the face; when you look at the original assets (which we did, because we were told we didn't know wtf we were talking about directly by playway) you could clearly see it was like this, now it was made like that, and they called it "optimization" to "run better" whereas they were fixing up as they were told to by their new partners. Of course this included examples by us by them of what they directly promised with before and after screenshots and video comparions, like that "blue blood" because the red blood was too red for sony and/or ms.

I'll even throw in another fun one: Vampire masquerade blood lines 1. But it excludes writeups and you will have to go and readup on it. Short version; they were ****ed over and a shitty project was released.

However, you are right in one thing. They should have gone the middle finger to previous gen and just gone with current pc to next gen consoles and then if at all possible take on previous gen consoles when they have the time for it.

Over the top, truly a dystopia. CDPR will fix it, no doubt. Just like witcher...

Playing on Ps4 at the moment, and the game looks fine, runs at 25fps or more, even during heavy load.

The thing that sucks, is the crashes. I've had more crashes in one week than any other game I've played on ps4...

7/10 due to bugs. 9/10 for world building and character.

And 2/10 for inventory management. God I hate having to sell each item individually. It really takes you out of the game.

Busy with a crit tank build... Just finished Royce... And I already feel like John Wick
