Supported Battery: Recommending using with Lead Acid (LA) Only. See below with regards to using Lithium (LFP).

Important Note: Currently there is a concern some experience with the inverter that does not stop charging when used with Lithium Drop in Replacement batteries such as the Hubble S-120. Update:

Review and Community Support for the Ceil Inverter 850VA / and Other VA's

Disclaimer: All information is for educational purposes only. Always use a qualified electrician to alter, modify or add to the equipment. Electricity can kill. Notice something is wrong? Switch it off and phone the manufacturer for advice. I do not take any responsibility for information that is wrong.

NOTE: The unit is still under review and testing with the Hubble S-120. Will give more in depth update after 2/3 months of usage.

I am currently using the Mecer 2400VA with two Hubble Lithium Drop in Replacement batteries as an affordable solution to loadshedding for the office, review and community support here: Mecer Thread
Tried and tested. Highly recommend as an affordable solution.

However I have learned that one will never use so much wattage as it will require a lot of batteries (as an office solution). So I got the Ceil 850VA 12V inverter from Geewiz for two of my staff as it is very affordable as well, and it is pure sine. I also paired it with a single Hubble S-120 battery from Geewiz.

Pro's Ceil Inverter compared to the Mecer 1200VA/1400VA:
• Pure sine. Can connect stuff with motors such as a fan for those hot summer days
• Quiet. As in super quiet! Compared to The Mecer is a noisy creature.
• Fan only comes on in bursts of 30-60 seconds (estimate) when charging and very seldom.
• It shows the battery voltage (only tested with a single battery)
• Has various settings for charging. See photo of specs below.

Con's:
• It requires a bit of DIY to connect batteries and plugs. Please don't hesitate to ask for advice. The inverters did come with the cables required to connect a battery. You do not need to open the unit or anything.
This might or might not be improved but you will need to add a South Africa 3 point plug to the inverter. It comes with no plug. The cables are already connect.
You will need a UK Plug with a multiplug adaptor to plug into the inverter. Geewiz should send one with the inverter, but sometimes it might have been left out, please let them know ASAP.
• Do note that the unit does trickle pulse charge in case you have concerns about it for your lithium batteries. I personally don't think it is an issue and if you wont be using the unit for an extended time period (Year 2150) just disconnect it or the batteries.
• LCD Displays do not site nicely, some shifted others tilted. A defect on most of the units.

Concerns:
• (Unresolved) Compatibility with Drop In Replacement Lithium batteries. Inverter does not stop Charging. On-going investigation/seeking solution. One inverter works fine. The other have this issue. Update: See also this post

Accessories:

• I still recommend to get a Kill-a-Watt or WiFi Smart Plug to test your needs before ordering as well as using with the inverter to monitor load.

• Plugs and adaptors. Or run to your nearest Builders for 3 point plug or Dischem for UK plug converter with Fuse.

• Hubble battery cabinet for the Hubble S-120 (backorder):

Suggested settings for the back switches:
- EC (Approx 9A/10A charging) and Narrow

Please Note:

I run affiliated links to some of the Geewiz products I use and review. Please remove "?aff=70" at the end of the links if you do not want me to earn a small commission. I do not affiliate with products I have not used or bought for my staff or friends. I started the Mecer thread many years before adding the links and do not mind if they are not being used. I will continue to suggest any company or product that gives good service and offer better pricing. Thanks for the extra support. Geewiz is awesome.

That's subjective for my experience. I still have the mecer airplane in my cupboard. To what noise would you related the fan to? Crowd talking, a whisper, barking?

Yup I noticed with the Ecco PSWs I had that they were incredibly quiet compared to the Mecer, also no hum like the MSW did :). Now I have a fan running at almost full tilt but there is almost 3.5kw of sun being pumped into the batteries and I just realised we're being shed.
This is interesting I've been looking for one to play with for my dad maybe, seeing as those Eccos are now scarce.

I like this. My unit is super silent

What mode should charging be set to ideally?

Have mine hooked up charging rn with a smart plug monitoring pull. Once charged I'll know idle pull from just the inverter alone

One of the inverters paired with a hubble battery has been showing charging non stop. Busy running some tests to see if it can be solved, otherwise it will go back to supplier. Other inverter is running like a well oiled machine.

Might be it's not getting the signal to stop?

Mine seems to have stopped charging now. Reporting 13.7V on the batts (2x 105Ah LA)

Pull from wall is 11.1W according to smart plug
