Grammy-winning country music star Joe Diffie has died two days after revealing he had contracted coronavirus.

The 61-year-old had a string of hits in the US in the 1990s and had two albums that went platinum.

On Friday, he announced he had tested positive for COVID-19 - the first country music star to go public with such a diagnosis.

Diffie's publicist Scott Adkins said the singer, from Tulsa, Oklahoma, died on Sunday due to complications from the virus.

Not famous as a person, but significant as the first crew-member of an aircraft carrier to die from Covd-19:
A sailor who was serving aboard the USS Theodore Roosevelt aircraft carrier has become the first on the ship to die from Covid-19, the US Navy announced.

The sailor was moved to an isolation house on Guam after testing positive, where he was found unresponsive on 9 April and died on 13 April.

Over 500 sailors on the USS Roosevelt have tested positive for the virus.

On the BBC front page. Interesting life history, and prolonged hospitalisation:
Best-selling Chilean writer Luis Sepúlveda has died of Covid-19 in Spain at the age of 70.

He spent six weeks in hospital in Oviedo after developing symptoms following a trip to a literary festival in Portugal.

You okes need to put the age of the person and a reason they're a celebrity next to the name. We can't google every has-been/never-was in creation.
