Cell-C 3G (2GB) special for R1499 is over - what next?

Hi All,
Cell-C had a 3G special (2GB per month) for R1499 which is over.
I bought this under a year ago and it is due to expire.

I visited a Cell-C store and the guy now reckons to me that this deal is now R2999.

Can you make any suggestions for some good deals similar to the R1499 (event if it's from Vodacom or MTN)?

8ta has a deal of 2G (anytime) + 1G FREE (night usage) for R149.

All you have to do is go to an 8ta store and activate a SIM.
Take RICA papers with (ID and proof of residence).
All you do is purchase airtime (anywhere) and convert to the 2G + 1G promo deal.
This is the current cheapest deal in SA, prepaid.

After the Cell C deal ended, I went yesterday and got the 8ta
SIM. Bonus is I use my Cell C dongle modem, and it's 100% compatible with
the 8ta network. It's just as fast as Cell C for me.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I saw earlier in another thread that 8.ta is

R150/m for 3GB over 24 months
R199/m for 10GB over 24 months

Compared to Cell C's 2GB for R125/m over 12 months 8.ta is cheaper per GB.

Correct?

Edit: I see above the 3rd GB is one of those semi useless late night deals.

There is a rumor that promo with modem is still available for R1499 in some Game stores. I saw it in December in CNA or Game @Cresta/JHB.
Otherwise 8ta contract.
Is 3GB R399 valid for one year still available? Perfect for tablet or backup.

I can confirm that Northgate CNA has stock of the dongle+data R1499, also check your makro they did advertise it in December 2011, also check THE GLEN cna they have the 2gig data bundle+5gig data bundle. Meaning the dongle and the data unfortunately. I did however manage to get 3 DATA SIM CARDS (5gig) at the old price last year. Thank you to the CELL C Rep for hooking me up without him I would probably be in the dark without access to the outside world
