Never believe in-Store reps.
The ratio of credible information vs in-Store rep (for any service provider) is low - very low!

According to a Cell C store.

Can the the Cell-C online rep confirm this?

Great news if this is true.
But the chances are very low.
Because it being said from the beginning that johannesburg is last one to launch.
That means they have to launch remaining 6 cities before Oct 14th. Because the total cities they testing are 9. Only 2 launched so far.

Good lordy. Cell C sales reps in Cape Town are as clueless as Telkom Call Centre agents who lose that page thing they read off from!!! Absolutely hopeless! I have pre-ordered my Modem from the Cell C branch in Somerset Mall and was told that by 1 October they 'SHOULD' have it... Remember these are the SAME muppets who convinced me that by the 25th Sept they'll have one instore to buy.

ALTHOUGH, they were testing the black modem in store and got download speeds of around 4mb - Which is good for Cape Town PRE 4G launch.. But again, this is IF you trust the instore okes

Hi all

According to Mr Reichelt's presentation in Cape Town, there are 9 cities which are still being tested.
Unfortunately we cannot confirm or deny any dates for the particular cities.

Also, please don't rely on in-store "tips". We're sure that the customer reps in the stores will try and answer your questions as well as they can, but it will not be confirmed, since this information is kept from Cell C staff initially with the exact purpose of preventing leaks before Cell C are 100% sure that the network is running at full steam in the proposed cities.

Thanks Cell_C.
Are these 9 cities including the once launched already or the cities launched excluded?

That is good news I hope they don't change the launch date to another date - then I will be angry but I am down in Durban...

I will see if i can manage to buy a data bundle.

If you manage to buy one then you are covered and you dont need to look for the launch date. I know one guy from cell c who tested the service and he is still using it. So you can use it too.

I see that some people bought the Cell C bundle in PE and traveled to Durban before the launch and it connected using UMTS with good speeds.

Has anyone bought one and brought it up to Jhb? Do we need to wait for the launch; cause I am thinking about getting one of my mates to bring me one up.

No you dont need to wait for the launch date. As long as you are in Cell c coverage area you are fine.
I wish i had somebody coming up from Durban......
