Another disappointment. They launched in 2 other cities today. That means no launch today for joburg.
May the 17th launch date is right......

Although CellC announced launch in Richardsbay and Witbank today they really only launched in Witbank as Richardsbay was launched together with Durban with the stores in Richardsbay selling the dongle for more than a month and the shops was listed on CellC website for more than a month.

Just BTW, only EDGE in Castleview at the moment. I really hope Cell C are going to cover the area.

Anyway I'm getting 3.5mb/s dload and 2.8mb/s upload in Centurion.

Is that maybe because on the coverage map it doesn't show HSDPA+ (dark red) over that area - so while the stick works you won't get a 21mbps speed (until that is actually launched next week) What speeds is everyone else getting in Gauteng?

With regard to their fair use policy, how bad do they throttle your speeds if you have 'a very high usage'?

thanks

3.5 mb/s DL and 2.8 mb/s UL are pretty good speeds when compared to Vodacom, MTN.
I dont think you will have any throttling because it is a prepaid service not unlimited service.

thanks

Hi Spy,
Dont expect 21 Mbps even after launch. 21 Mbps is the theoretical speeds that you can get using that technology.

I have to say the network was very bad yesterday (Sunday) afternoon. I've had the stick for a week and used about 1.3Gb in total. Yesterday I had to disconnect and reconnect frequently as some websites wouldn't finish loading. Even speedtest gave a download error at times.

I think Cell C can indeed throttle the speeds according to their fair use policy.

Wierda Park X2, Centurion. Also, it was raining at that time, don't know if this has an effect.
