Cell C Rosebank mumbled something about 28 October when I phoned them. And they don't know about the option to only buy the SIM (R999 / R1999 deals). So I dont really trust their word.

Another disappointing day.

Oh well, another 2 weeks until the end of the month.

I have 400MB left on my sodding Vodacom bundle. I can just see myself feeding those fat cats R389 more this month :(

First on a light note: about time Durban got one up on JHB and about time PE got one up on everyone.

Just remember if you order from an official launch city and take it somewhere else your coverage isn't gaurateed cos it not official. Its a tata ma chance sort of thing. Also the 7 day returns policy carries a R350 handling fee on return of the ^60 GB bunble and usb dongle (R250 handling fee if just the sim and the dongle was not pruchased). Thankfully I'm a happy customer.

Any ideas about Rustenburg?
An in-store rep said that they will have dongles in stock at the end of October when they launch.
I'm not sure if this is accurate though. Anyone know?

So according to the MD of Cell C Gauteng will be launched by middle of November 2010. Still about 4 weeks to wait!

Hey—what is your source for this? Could you please post a link?

Cell-C rep: Please confirm this. According to the store they are confident of the end of October or sooner!

Hey, does Cell C support 3G, and/or HSDPA 1.8, 3.6 or 7.2 in joburg yet? I haven't been keeping up to date... last time I had a sim card, it was only gprs+edge so I'm wondering..

Guys i spoke to a friend of mine who is a store "operator" here in klerksdorp...according to him joburg and pretoria is going to "officially" launch in about two weeks from today (18/10/2010)...he reckons that they have not "turned on all the towers yet" in these areas. After joburg's launch it will be another 2 weeks or so before klerksdorp and rustenburg are connected..so if he is correct then it looks like the guys who got word its at the end of October are correct

Not sure how accurate he is, but i hope this helps

HSPA+ 21.6 mpbs everywhere I've been (Durban, Umhlanga, Sandton, Johannesburg)

Although the fastest speed that I achieved was 10mbps download.

Thanks. But this is vague, maybe deliberately. The other launches have been per city.

Where is that Cell C online rep?

Durban, Pietermaritzburg and Richardsbay all launched on the same day. Gauteng is nowadays already a 1 city province!

I'm currently using HSPA+ 21.6 mpbs in Hatfield, Pretoria. Speed measured about 5.5 mbps. The point is that it is already working in some parts of Pta/Jhb - you don't necessarily have to wait for the official day of launch.
