Hi, everyone I just joined this forum :D

Anyway my question on this Cell C deal (directed to a rep if possible) is on the site it says
The inclusive in and out of bundle tariffs only apply to local traffic. International roaming is excluded.
Does this mean the 5GB cap is only for local usage, and that International will be charged as extra?

Local traffic for cellular data always refer to traffic on your home or local network, International means when you are roaming outside of your country on a different network, where you will be paying more like R87 000 per gig.

I bought a sim card whilst in Cape Town last month works great.

I see over the past two weeks i'm getting coverage mostly wherever I go in JNB/PTA, does that mean area's I cant get coverage in now, wont have by the time this becomes official?

Hi Guys,
i saw a CellC bus in pretoria on Friday. I was thinking that they are launching on Saturday. But it did not happen.
Previously durban was lunched next day after the bus was spotted.

So basically this is misleading because this 'cheap 5GB cap' is only local. Another thing, do those who have it actually get speeds up to 21mbps, or does it sort of waver up and down - and what about latency? Check speedtest.net and pingtest.net

For speeds, check this topic: http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/258764-Cell-C-Speed-Test-Results?p=5003973#post5003973.

Local means that you cannot take this dongle, drive to another country and attempt surfing internet from other country. Not to be confused with surfing local websites and surfing international websites (e.g. Telkom Internet).

Gee, a user with 2 posts spreading blatant lies. Couldn't possibly be an industry shill. I wonder why I've been able to access so many international sites with my Cell C 5GB, I guess they must've made a mistake.

Your second sentence is correct. The first sentence is bizarrely wrong.

But thanks for clearing it up, the 5GB is clearly international then; and the price between local/international is presumably equal regarding the cap you get p/m

It's 5gb of internet bandwidth. This local/international is some bs telkom made up to screw us all. International roaming is when you take your phone/modem to another country and use a roaming partners network. It will always be cheaper to just get a prepaid sim there and you can probably use it in the same modem.

Hi Junior,

Any Local and International Website's are all included in your Data Bundle, if you plan to leave South Africa and wish to Roam abroad then you will not be covered, the Speed Sticks are only valid on the Data Packages within the Boarders of South African, hope that makes sense : )

That's the exact date I got from Game in Northgate today. And they recon they have the stock already. Anyway, too many false rumours in this thread. I don't believe anything until I see the official Cell C announcement. Sooner or later it'll be in Gauteng for sure.

.... before i buy on December 2nd.

That will be a good date to buy. Get the whole of December free and start your data usage from the 1st January 2011.

I might do the same thing.

What do you mean get December free Madhawk? How does it work? I got 2 sims on the 6th of November from EL and brought them to jhb. when does the billing or data usage start from?
