Hmmm, I am not happy with the Cell C ZTE modem because it doesn't work with Linux, and if you can get it to work with Linux (it took me and two others assisting me) almost two whole days, then you still cannot get the interactive icon to display in the Linux desktop. That means you cannot recharge a pre-paid account or check your balance and use (or anything else which usually gets done via the interactive Cell C desktop icon).
Cell C's modems used to be made by Thetalogix in South Africa, and they had good support for their modems - with a dedicated support team and a series of custom-drivers for Linux, but ZTE in China do not.
I tried to contact ZTE's South Africa office but they were useless.
I contacted ZTE China but they weren't even willing to discuss the matter and said that it is Cell C's problem.
The I contacted Cell C and a guy got back to me - quite a courteous chap - with what seems to be a brand new Linux driver solution, but it doesn't provide the full gamut.
What cheeses me off the most is that they don't warn you that they sell drivers which don't work with every operating system, and if you don't ask you don't know until you open the packaging and read (if you do at all) the pamphlet. It just seems amateurish and dishonest.
