So a friend of mine bought a 2GB/month internet bundle about two years ago when they first came out. cant remember what the price was- R100/200 a month or something. First month's bill arrives and they've charged him standard rates - ie R1 a meg, so his bill comes to R2000.
He phones them, spends however many days and however long being passed back and forth, with no one able to do anything about it and finally is able to convince someone they've billed him incorrectly.
A few days pass and his account is cut off for non payment.
Back to the call center- five calls later they agree its their mistake and reconnect him.
End of the month comes and he gets another bill for R2000, plus the R2000 from the previous month, plus a reconnection fee!
He Phones them screaming his head off. This goes on for three months, eventually he cancels for breech of contract.
They threaten legal action, so he gets a lawyer on them and they finally concede.
Today, two years later he gets an sms to say they have handed him over to their lawyers again for blacklisting.

lol- I know I shouldn't, but I feel this burning rage about it just because it takes me back to the times I had to deal with that call center. I feel for this oke because its now more lawyers fees and just more frustration. I don't know- AKC needs to rethink their helpdesk if he ever wants his company to truly compete

did your "friend" continue paying his contract till the end or he just stopped after receiving the hefty bill?

I like the way you "" friend lol- It really is a friend, not me.
After he got the lawyers on them they cancelled the contract, and he paid for the first three months. The lawyer should have it in writing still.

Always always take your copy of the paperwork you sign for any of these contracts.

I am shocked at how many people just don't care about having the paperwork and then a month later when they cock it up have absolutely nothing to show for what signed for and agreed upon.

agree fully- I've still got contracts that expired 10 years ago. Thats where he was a bit silly- he threw away his paperwork, so if the lawyer doesn't have anything he's screwed.

Best to get any data in prepaid format, and not in contract.

Too easy to bugger things up on a contract. Prepaid, no worries.

I agree- Me, my mom, my boet and another friend have all walked that gauntlet trying to sort billing problems out with their helpdesk. Wont go on contract again. On prepaid though, so still supporting the buggers, but at least the call chargers are the same.

I do have a contract with CellC, but this is only used in case of emergencies when money's low and I don't have any money for topping up my prepaid account. Only used for SMS/voice and nothing else.

Not to mention emailing that address hardly gets a response half the time, never mind one that actually matters.

I cancelled my contract with Cell C and went to MTN because I also just could not handle it anymore. They are so useless!

I wanted to move a contract into my name. I sent all the documentation they needed and they kept phoning me asking where it was. Then I would send it again and then they kept losing it everytime.

So anyway, just cacellling the contract was easier. So I did that.
