I have used my Cell C sims in a Cell C dongle and a Hauwei B660 wifi router and if we have the parent unit of my daughter's baby monitor anywhere close to said devices there is random interference which is loud scratchiness......

If I use Voda / 8ta / MTN there is no interference.

Does Cell C use something different on their networks to cause this interference?

900MHz vs. 2100MHz (or 2400MHz - WiFi). The later one gives you less interference, but is more harmfull.

Aha! I assume their justification is better coverage and penetration (their words)........

It's an irritation because I have the router plugged in behind our bedroom TV at the top of the built in cupboards and can't have the baby monitor charging anywhere near there - when the ideal place is the dresser gap directly below.

Lock your dongle to 3G-only (WCDMA-only). Pur-pur-pur sound might be in result of modem hunting in GPRS mode. Similiar when talking over the GSM phone in close proximity to unshielded PC speakers.
And remember, wired is always better, maybe less convenient, but much safer.

I am in a good signal area so it never switches to EDGE mode - I know the sound you are referring to.

This is a scratchy sound...

I sit with the exact same problem. I realized this as soon as I migrated to CellC form MTN, I switch the HSDPA off and run on the home wireless when I go to bed, then its fine.

I have the Angel Care monitor.

Its the HSDPA signal that's the main problem ;)

It is like complaining that clothes get wet when it is hanging on the washing line in the rain, and you are not sure why it happens, then you get angry with the rain. :crying:
