Cell C has become a Vodacom MVNO for its contract customers

Cell C is winding down its contract base and has become a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) on Vodacom’s network to serve these subscribers.

An MVNO is a wireless communications service provider that does not own the wireless network infrastructure over which it provides services to its customers.

Sooooo
What happened to their network, was it sold, was given away, was it ever theirs, what

This article is about Cell C's contract base. So the prepaid users are still using Cell C network.

No, Cell C deactivated its towers from last year. I doubt there are any towers from them that are active.

As a a Cell C contract subscriber I am not sure it is a MVNO, but rather a (bad) roaming agreement. Although I am on the "Vodacom" network my reception is far worse than Vodacom users and I often only get EDGE reception - I am pretty sure Cell C contract subscribers are either deprioritized or only have access to a limited portion of the network. No 5G for certain.

Steinhoff vibes.

Unfortunately SA media doesn't go after the private sector for suspicious activity like it goes with government.

Huh? Investors knew and had full transparency in what a big hole Cell C is. Whether it was the debt default, recapitalization rounds etc. Some businesses go bankrupt without any corruption or fraud -- they just don't make it as businesses....

Talking about the roaming agreements.

Telcos do what they want and operating in what I'd describe as racketeering
