You go public to bad mouth the company that puts food on your table and then act shocked when you get fired.

Cell C is dismissing employees via WhatsApp - Report

A number of Cell C workers are being fired via WhatsApp, according to a report from Tech Financials.

The report said the reason for the dismissal of these employees is that they have been tweeting negatively about the company using the hashtags #cellckwenzejani and #savecellc.
No they're not being fired via whatsapp. They're being informed of their disciplinary proceedings via both whatsapp and registered letter

As an aside, what's wrong with being informed via WhatsApp that you are dismissed? It's in writing, to your personal device address. Or is there some special meaning or weight to having the notice etched in ink on pulped tree?

A notice of dismissal posted below shows that employees were dismissed due to the content of their tweets via registered mail and WhatsApp message.
OK, please add this to the heading.

You can tell the quality of an "article" by the discussion of the content or the stupidity of the way its "reported"

There is a huge difference between a WhatsApp and a registered letter. Our courts have ruled that registered letters are quite sufficient for various purposes.
Hmm. I wonder the ECTA 2002 and Electronic Communications. The bugger is that the employees probably have Cell C contracts and Cell C can proove they received them (i.e. delivered) :)

Anyway, kudos to Cell C for taking a stand.

Thats a one sided way out, without any responsibility from the Digital-Age that is widely promoted and even enforced.
Now the Digital-Era has crept in slowly on humanity, like an innocent snail.
The Digital-Age has some serious ABSTRACT components in its very existance, that is poorly understood, neither properly recognised. Now after an accumulated buildup and expansions over lets say since the 80-Ties, especially the last 30 years the world over, it is not innocent either.
As we all know and experienced, digital(the binary code) has brought some very positive assistance and help in the technical fields, BUT, it also has an ABSTRACT component on the social sides that capure peoples emotions and understanding in various negative ways and that also grew gradually like a chemical brew that escalates as TIME goes on.

What you see here is just ONE tiny example of the result of an ABSTRACT-SUGGESTIVE-TENDs thats easily absorbed by human brains and adopted too carried on higher non spoken abstract layers of humanity.
The results of all of this was expected to happen, but to blame an individual in totallity is hardly correct.
This abstract monster is to grow much worse, its in its digital nature.

Too late for most/all of them!

They should have implemented a Social Media policy long time ago.....
All BPO's/Call Centres has clauses in their Code of Conduct/employment contract specifically prohibiting negative or defamatory comments via Social Media. Can't work for them otherwise.
