Cell C is relaunching its brand in August

isn't Cell C now a whole owned subsidiary of Vodacom?
Cell C CEO Jorge Mendes believes that South Africa’s major mobile operators would prefer it if the company remains in a perpetual state of financial distress. “The market needs us to succeed. We want to succeed, but not the way they want us to succeed,” Mendes told MyBroadband. “They want us to succeed by lying in an ICU with a drip in our arm. I don’t want that.”

Mendes never outright says who “they” are, but his meaning is clear — Vodacom and MTN would much prefer the status quo to a disruptive Cell C. Asked whether he was concerned that Cell C is dependent on Vodacom and MTN for wholesale mobile network services, Mendes said he wasn’t.

Cell C no longer operates its own mobile network, relying on Vodacom roaming for its contract subscribers, and MTN for a virtual radio access network to serve its prepaid and MVNO customers like Capitec Connect.

I reckon good salesman from CellC and hubris from investors.
Plus throwing good money after bad.

Levy Brothers from BlueLabel definitely feels like that was hubris, which isn't the only deal they've done it on.
On more then one deal they've had to self finance and take risk with BlueLables board saying no.

There must be some hidden reason why investors keep throwing money into this ****.

Companies buy other companies to keep the competition out. I'm sure there's something in it to help the competition stay afloat as well.

The started red, then went black and then changed to orange and died. Maybe now they will be green or blue??

Entrepreneur is not a title on it own. It should be backed up with success which will pave the way to a profitable business at the end of the year cycle, investors receive dividends. If not why are they in business anyway? Does a business always reporting losses pay tax? How about Dividends? What kind of investors who don't care about bad business? Are there investors or just two brothers? Seems there is a lot going on here which is shady. Anyway.

Didn't you know that the cellphone business is one of the dirtiest in the world. Shady AF, the whole lot of them.
They're cartels.
