Cell C launches 21 Mbps HSPA+ in Bloemfontein today

That is really great news, just 3 more cities before it comes to me.

Seems that they are taking it slow ... 34% at the end of the year ... that i wanna see ...

They are making the other ISPs suffer, by dragging it out!

"Hey, i'm not renewing my Vodacom contract, im waiting for this new Shell Cee KennyG Network everybody is talking about....."

I know I will be replacing my iBurst with this offering from Cell C. No doubt about that.

Ran tests with Cell C's USB Data Dongle in Cape Town yesterday.

Test was run in Cape Town area and connected at 21Mbps.
Speedtest.net to Cape Town server showed 2.3Mbps Download & 0.89Mbps Upload.

Downloaded a test file from Microsoft.com at +-1Mbps, 22Meg file finished in 30 seconds.

Cell C's Data network is brilliant, it's like no other wireless data service I have ever seen.

Cape Town is most likely next in line after Bloemfontein.

Anton use MDMA to check how much is left in bundle.
Anton unplugs E272
Anton says bi-bi VC...

sorry, but you can't determine qos with no network load.

glad to see they're in bloem. i was honestly only expecting them to have rolled out to the rest of the country by june 2011.
hopefully this leads to a quicker date for us jozi peeps.
would be interesting to see how vc responds - do they drop prices now, later, or see if the cell-c network can deliver a decent service in jhb & ct first?

Wow! 733KB/s! that's almost a Megabyte each and every second! - 600KBps is pretty much the MAX I can get from MTN, which is pretty damn quick
do you have a rapidshare account to test with that? or perhaps graboid (even a demo account) - any one of those two will max out your connection - one quick test will simply not do!

do it!

Hi Keeper,

I shall run a P2P and Rapidshare test when I get hold of the dongle again as I do not own one.
I shall most likely be able to do it next week again and report back.

try graboid too though - rapidshare might max it out, sometimes it won't - graboid however, will ALWAYS max it out
(seriously - if you look at your Download meter graph, you will see a mountain of incoming data)

be sure to take screenshots of your DU Meter/MDMA

These are Megabytes per second you are talking about?

edit: did the calc on the file you downloaded - 22MB in 30s = 750kB/s which is roughly 0.73MB/s and about 6Mbps.

It is important you get your use of MB/s and Mbps right in this instance
