Cell C launches free WhatsApp calling

While the calls are actually always free, especially over Wi-Fi, I guess a better way to describe it is that the microscopic amount of data it uses won't cost you anything while in this period.

Good to a SP "promote" WA, not what we're used to.

While I applaud their enthusiasm in sticking it to the rest... Their backbone is SO weak - the lag on their :D network :D will probably do them more harm than good.
HellC = the worst two telephony years of my life.

Cell C milking the whole regulation debacle. But good on them.

But as for WhatsApp calling...I wish I could set it so that I cannot be called on WhatsApp. It's schit.

Gotta love this article comment on the website:

"Capetocuba • 22 minutes ago
In the latest news Vodacom and MTN strike back at Cell C offering 10 free SMS's per day ..."

Smart. While emptyN and Vodascum are throwing their toys out of their cots, CellC are seeing it as an opportunity and raking in the customers that are jumping ship.

The data used for the purpose of WhatsApp calling will be fully zero rated....

Cell-C Rocks.
I have 2 family members on Cell-C for the last 2 year - works great - no issues.

Only on contracts and prepaid MegaBonus plan, but very good marketting in response to Gestapo Vodacom/MTN threats.

Guys and girls... why would you go and give the thumbs-up to a company claiming that they provide an already free service, for free?
The proper attitude I feel should be to tell CellC to STFU and stop capitalising the same thing Vodacrap and MTN is.
This is not revolutionary, or consumer-centric or anything good... free is how it was intended to the world, and an ISP should not be praised by promoting a free service for free, especially if it's a limited time, because it's trying to NOT KEEP IT FREE!

Braincells people... grow them.
