Cell C kisses its own network goodbye

After completing its network migration process, Cell C says it now has access to 28,000 network towers nationwide, increasing the operator's coverage in the country.

Part of the network migration process included the switching off of Cell C's own network infrastructure, and with the company saying it has completed the process, one can assume that its network towers are no longer active.

I wonder how long is this network going to be around for. I would have run a long time ago if I were still with them.

28 000 towers with each one carrying around 200kg batteries = 5600 tons of lead

The quality if the network has become absolutely shocking. And if this is what roaming liiks like then it's a scam. My prepaid vodacom aim has coverage and my cell c contract phone doesn't

Just wait till Vodacom and MTN starts upping the prices on those towers.

It reminds me of Edgars selling its credit business to ABSA, then when they wanted to kickstart sales, ABSA wasnt willing to sign up too risky clients, so it fell flat on their face. Since then we have seen Edgars falling apart, many stores has closed.

CellC will by famous for the last phone I used with them....BLACKBERRY. I used BIS on Cellc, and then moved to Telkom Mobile. Never looked back.

Only other thing I liked from them was those Giga bundles but that's also gone pretty much. Fibre from R270per month has killed that.

This does not inspire confidence to me as a contract subscriber. I'm going to end my contract soon.
I do not get the same quality roaming on Voda towers as actual Vodacom users. I found this out the hard way when I switched Sims on my phone in the same location I always use it. Suddenly my phone was flying and had these extra icons in the top right: like VoLTE, and my speed test showed 5x the download speed compared to what I got while roaming. It's ridiculous really!

Cell C keep SMS'ing and phoning me to upgrade to the Galaxy S24 Ultra and when I say I'm not interested, they mention the S23 FE for R299/month over 36 months if I trade in my current smartphone. No thank you. I'm ready to jump ship, and my phone works perfectly well.

spinning victory from the jaws of defeat...

The I-ECNS licence permits the holder to sell wholesale access to physical network infrastructure, while I-ECS licences let companies sell telecommunications services to consumers

proud of you guys.....
