Hi All

Han anyone been having issues with their CellC 3G? I am using the speed stick and the internet speed is pathetic.

For the last 3 months, I have had serious connection problems with my CellC 3G. At most I am getting 5kbps down/uplaod. I called the service desk, was put through to tech support and was told that a techie will call me back in 2 days, this was 3 weeks ago and I have yet to hear back from them.

I rely on a stable internet connection in order to work and CellC has really let me me down.

They advertise the product as "Swoosh", well that's exactly the sound it's gonna make when I flush it down the toilet.

I've opted for ADSL and things are looking much better :)

Yes 3g service has been getting worse every month without fail. It's been about 4 months since I could reliably connect with the network in evenings during the week (during the day even worse). Now it's the same on weekends. When I am able to connect with the network, it's very unstable, disconnects and reconnects itself every 5-10 minutes. Just trying to get to cell c's my account page usually takes several attempts and far, far too much time. Downloading any files larger than a few megs is impossible, all I can do is waste bandwidth with useless attempts...
I'd moan at them but
1) have experienced the uselessness of their 'customer care' previously
2) bundle expires in a month or so, so **** it

I have a Speed stick from CellC and a iphone 5 from CellC.

Both have been terrible!!! speed wise and at some times unusable.
I live in Century city area in cape town.

At this rate I will be canceling my Speed stick unless I see a drastic change fast.
Your move CellC.

The problem is their infrastructure. It can not cope with demand. The only thing "escalating" currently is your false hopes. I've been in the same boat for a few months now. PAINFUL.

I have been having the same problem with my Nokia (here in East london). When I put a Vodacom sim, I have no problems, but Cell c almost non-existent. I am thinking it will be better to port to Vodacom. I have had good service from Cell C for the last few years, but these last 2 months....

I'm not even gonna bother to do this because I know that nothing is gonna happen. You guys are ridiculous.

As I said in my original post, when I called I was told that someone would call me back in 2 days, that was 3 weeks ago.

Yesterday, I logged a complaint on Hellopeter and "Swoosh", I got a call from CellC with the usual apologies etc etc etc.

@CellC rep - As I told the person that called me yesterday, I'm not interested so don't bother - Your service and standards are pathetic. You guys don't realize how important it is to have a stable internet connection, especially when your work relies on it.

Regards

Cell C has no need to fix any data issues. Most people are locked into contracts for 2 years, so they get the cash without having to deliver a service.

It's the perfect crime.

Perfectly said!! Could not agree more.

We're bound by a contract so why must they give a damn about the consumer??

Really pathetic!!
I will make sure that I deter as many people as possible from using their services.

And the rest of us suckers paid up-front for the non-service...

I gave you my details a few weeks back and there has been no change. Please advise us how your escalation to the network team is going as in when can we expect results.

When I'm at the office I sometimes get lucky with FB updates. If I go to the bathroom I get a "data roaming is lost" message WTF!

I can not wait for my contract to be over so I can move to a network that actually works. The old adage 'you get what you pay for' certainly holds true. Send a negative tweet and if you're lucky you get a response boasting about their competitive data prices and great packages. Didn't bother asking them what good a competitive data price and great package is if you can't use the damn thing. The data has been so poor that I've had to cut down on my 'Smart' Data package cos the network simply doesn't allow me to use it. This is sad as I'm actually consuming more data month to month and have had to rely on ADSL and 8ta to be able to get online. What is even more frustrating is that they're well aware of the issues. I remember an article a few months ago on myBB wherein they acknowledge issues with their equipment. Months on the problem still exists. My advice to anyone considering Cellc is they should be your first choice if all you're interested in is making calls but if you have even the smallest requirement for data look elsewhere. You have been warned.

While trying to post this, i was disconnected 5 times. Disconnections seems to be cellc's way in our area.
3 Months ago i've decided to make use of VC's 20GB promo, because i couldn't watch youtube videos with this pathetic cellc signal & the disconnections. (buffering forever) So today i did not buy a VC 20GB bundle again & decided to put back my cellc sim, just to see that cellc is as pathetic as always.

And my brother & his mrs are Cell C's latest victims. The newly weds recently got themselves 2 Samsung Galaxy S4's. Awesome smartphones but they cant use any data. Their internet issues started last week & has been the same ever since. I laughed when they told me Cell C sold them a Virus. Cell C have become a sinking ship.

I bought my contract out and went back to MTN. More expensive, but at least I have a service that works properly now. CellC may be cheaper than MTN and Vodacom, but their service is beyond pathetic, and their call centre even worse. I keep checking back here on this forum to see if anything's changed. Can't say I'm surprised to find nothing has. All the CellC rep ever does is ask for area etc. and say he/she will pass info over to their "network team to investigate", but trust me, nothing he/she does will resolve your query wrt to this matter. All you'll get is false hope. It's been broken for months, and they're still not admitting to having a problem. I've even had my posts deleted on their Facebook page when I went to complain there and had other people commenting on the same post about the same internet problems. Full signal, no throughput. Thankfully, they don't have the power to delete my posts here. If you want some advice, just move off CellC. Everyone you sign up with will give you their fair share of problems, but I can assure you that no one is as bad as CellC, having dealt with MTN, Voda and them. It's just a matter of how much frustration you're willing to put up with. Thankfully, my frustration with MTN has only been the cost of their service. I can't fault the quality. Might give Telkom Mobile a try soon as well, but definitely on a prepaid service only. My days of contracts are over, thanks to CellC.

There is a difference between Facebook and this forum. On Facebook you post your complains, but here we are talking how to improve situation, sometimes difficult. Unfortunately so many Facebook users have moved recently to this forum, that we see increasingly trash being posted like yours and no-one is looking for advice how to improve connection, just to complain, complain, complain. It is not what this forum is about.

So, what do you recommend ones does to improve the situation when they don't fix it when you log calls, they don't respond to requests on this forum for assistance and it is not getting better?

And what did you do from your side to improve your connection? Whe don't even know what your problems are, you just keep posting the same and the same. It doesn't help.
