Hello,

I see my data contract (giga 20) does not download between 12:00 - 05:00 except if I disconnect / reconnect during these times.

I used to be able to leave pc on and schedule app to download at midnight (12:00 - 05:00)

Now it seems as if there was a change in their systems?

I noticed my daytime gigs were used up much more quickly this month, could it be possible that the system was taking my daytime gigs when I did my midnight downloads?

I know it must be difficult for them to host a service that deducts different balances at different times, but I did not believe it would work without problems.

Thanks for any replies

I came here to post about my problem that may be related.

I've got a giga 200 of which there's only about 1 gig normal time left. So now I will only use my Cell C for downloading at night since I've got tons of night time data left.

So I stayed up until 5 minutes to midnight to start up my XBox and download Fable 3. I went to sleep but woke up at 2:30 with a brilliant idea. Wanting to quickly google, I got a page that said that my data is depleted and that I have to recharge. Pretty pissed off, I left it to check the next day, only to find that I still have data on both my normal time and night time. During the night it only downloaded 10 percent of Fable 3, which is about 500mb I would guess.

Now, is it possible that it's looking at my normal data left and because of the speed of the download it figures that I must be out of data? Even if I have 80GB+ left of night time data?

I will try again tonight but it seems like something is off with their systems. I am so tired of complaining but I paid for this data and I want to use it.

Have anyone else had problems with their nighttime data?

I've got a giga 200 as well.
At midnight last night I couldn't browse anymore and got the data depleted / recharge message.
I definitely still have plenty of normal and night time data left.
Reconnecting seemed to sort it out.

Never had to do this before. I hope it's not permanently like this.

Cell C rep, I see you are answering all the threads around this one. If possible can you please find out if Cell C knows about this and whether they will fix it at some stage?

These above posts reveal that problem is at backbone linking to towers which constantly validate account (as ginggs posted before). Maybe Cell C should take these reports and investigate individually. It looks some RNC's lose connection to the backbone and stop serving users.

As Dobes pointed out reconnecting is solving problem. I have to add (from my past experience), that not always. If modem is connecting to the healthly tower, yes. I had been watching Cell_ID's. But when modem is connecting properly and a second later is forced handover to the malfunctioning tower (as it has stronger signal), there is a problem.

Thanks Cell_C. I don't have the number here. I will test tonight though and if it happens again then I'll send you a pm. I was rather hoping that it was something that Cell C already knew about and that it weren't isolated incidents.

However the people mention reconnecting. So I'm thinking that just after midnight I can restart the router and then hopefully the depleted message will not appear and everything will download correctly. Will see.
