Has anybody else experienced a sudden decrease in dowload speed on CellC?

I know they had some issues a couple of weeks agao, but I have been noticing for a while now that the actual download speed is decreasing.

I used to get up to 8 mb/s on speedtest.net with my CellC modem, now I'm lucky if I get 1.5. I'm still using the same hardware and my modem is still standing in the same spot.

Also, at my office in Pretoria Central, I have full HSDPA signal, but I cannot get downloads faster that 1 mb/s.

I wonder if they aren't a victim of their own success? Maybe too many people are subscribing to their cheap Pre-paid data deals?

That's wireless service your speed is based on the load, the fewer are people the higher are speeds, the more people use the service the speed drops

Definitely something up with DL speed - was able to consistently get 6 to 8Mb/s as recent as a few weeks ago, now hovering at 3ish and if I'm lucky it pips above 4Mb/s. Upload speed consistently between 5 and 6Mb/s, no change there.

So I went from what used to be almost synchronous connection (DL was marginally faster the UL) to the reverse where UL is always 2Mb/s faster.

After hearing all these reports about Data etc I am too afraid to actually throw my money at CELL C but will test my 3 GIG emergency data to see if things have improved or are up to no good.
