yeah, i heard the D105 is not compatible with the ZTE modems... Cell C also released the NetComm Myzone router which just uses the sim card and doesn't need you to plug your modem into it.... I'm sure they'll release a cheaper ZTE compatible router soon though.

Reading the following threads this probably explains why CELL C have ditched their current suppliers Huawei and moved over to ZTE.

http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthr...dstick-problem-narrowed-down.....but-what-now
http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthr...s-spent-on-advertising-and-no-stock-available!

Seems the modems overheat and disconnect - and I can confirm on this cause I have one of those faulty modems, after 5minute of use connected to the network the modem would automatically disconnect itself(like removing the usb), then detecting the device again..

Here is the thread for a list of available routers compatible
http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/273744-Routers-to-use-with-Cell-C-UMTS-HSPA

Also contact the suppliers directly if they don't support the modern - the more we complain about the problem the more frequent they will update the drivers/firmware to compatible with the modem :)

Cell C ZTE stick

Is anyone using the new ZTE speed sticks? A friend of mine is having problems installing the drivers on his laptop (HP 64 bit, Windows 7 home) both the 2GB and the 5GB speed sticks. It looks like its installing properly and then fails when loading drivers. Howerever if he installs my huwaei black speedsctick, it installs correctly and can connect. Any ideas?

I can only recommend one solution(I am in the dark as you) - RIGHT click on the setup file and select RUN AS AN ADMINISTRATOR - try that option tell me if it works

Seeing as the ZTE Modems are now fresh on the scene let's keep discussions about them going here. We can probably merged this in to the general modem thread at some point.

Can someone who has one please post the model details?

hey Guys,
I'm off to buy my 12x5GB modem package this morning...
Seeing that there seem to be 2 types of 21MBPS modems - Should I insist on a specific one?

Well if you want to use the modem with a router, then u might need to get the huawei one as that compatible with the D105 currently on offer by cell c. Performance wise, i don't think theres a diff between the two.
