Fring has been around for a long time, so I cannot see what the fuss is about. Also, you need to be in 3G reception. You usually have to force your phone to use only 3G, so it does not always work. Another problem is that everyone needs the app running at all times. To get people to do that is near impossible.

founded by chief executive Rapelang Rabana

A University student looking to boost his ego by clling himself a chief executive. lol

Spose the status name calling is necessary for insecure young individuals.

Its actually a "her" I think, but I must say I agree with you.So many young computer science graduates want to be like Mark Zuckerberg now and be a CEO.

All this Yeigo talk is marketing I think

Fring piggy-backs totally off the Skype network. It has no major infrastructure to guarrantee you any sort of quality, service or billing structure. You're married then to skype as well as fring.

Truphone, cant be 100% sure - i think their interface (or lack thereof) is pretty wack tho.

yeigo - (and the apparently 'insecure' ComSci grads who started it) wrote their own system. from scratch. it's a world class system, that doesnt have the stresses of 100 000 000 users, the limitation of Yeigo in South Africa is that people like VOX and Telkom - two of the major voip terminators are so backward and inefficient that service can never be truly guarranteed to be 100% flawless. The only other option is to link up with guys like IS but they charge through the ass.

i dont know why everyone is still on about skype, especially in south africa. I have a 1mb home line, that goes straight into verizon (i proudly dont pay telkom a cent at all [directly]) and the voice quality is bloody awful. Skype gonna be a victim of its own success.

Johnny, you are unnable to acieve true mobile voip on the Java platorm (free calls) - Yeigo will be releasing a Java or LITE application in the coming quarter which will include all the IM and SMS features of yeigo as well as a "call-back" voip service, which although not free, SLASHES international calling rates by 65-85%. I cant really explain how it works, if ur interested i'll do some research!

Are you connected to Yeigo? Strange how you suddenly appear with your first post on this thread, not biased at all either.
