Centurion D5 - Intercom trigger not working

Our Centurion D5 gate motor has stopped opening when we press the button on the intercom from the house.

I've checked the cables from the house to the gate and there are no shorts. I am measuring 2.5 (ish) volts from the gate into the house where the intercom phone is connected.

I've also checked the button itself on the intercom and it definitely creates a short between the two wires when it is pressed.

The wires are connected to the TRG and COM connections on the mainboard. When I short these two connections manually, the gate does open.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what may be causing the button to stop working?

Thanks

measure between com on the gate motor and the wire coming into trg - sounds to me like you have a voltage drop.

Ok so I measured voltage drop and I am losing just over 1v along the entire cable run. I presume this is enough for the gate not to register that the button has been pressed??

I really want to avoid running another cable because it will involve laying about 30m cable outside plus about another 30m inside the house :cautious::cautious:

is your cable only a single pair running there?

It is yes. 1 pair of an ethernet cable.

Of the 8 pairs, 1 is for the gate motor alarm, 2 are used for the intercom and this one for opening and closing the gate.

i am assuming that by 1 pair of ethernet you mean 2 cat5 cables, which is 8 pairs. to me it sounds like you have open pairs available?

are you able to try one of the other working pairs? i find it a bit odd that only one pair in the cable has an issue which might point to it not being the cable?

at the intercom manually short the two wires together briefly and see if the gate opens?
