Hello all,
I'm having some difficulty changing the "Ethernet ID" on my mac. Im at the university of stellenbosch and we have to register our MAC address on a computer we use. The procedure is ridiculous and time consuming and I have already done this with my old computer. I therefore want my new MBP 13" to spoof the MAC address of my previous computer. I tried the command sudo ifconfig en0 ether aa:bb:cc:dd:ee:ff but it has no effect. Im running 10.5.7. Hope you guys can help :)

Rather be legal and do it the correct way - fill in the form(s) and wait for the new MAC address to be activated.

Otherwise you can be taken to task for not adhering to rules and regulations.

not

It's not -that- ridiculous and time consuming if you go Monday, you won't even stand in a queue. I don't know, does SUN even support MACs? They'll probably just ask for your MAC (ethernet) and you'll be on your way without having to give in your PC.

Before you change the MAC ID - remember many software activations work on this sole system record. Changing it means reactivating Quark, Adobe CS, anything esellerate, and plenty others. Rather go the long way round.

Or alternatively you can activate something which is node locked by spoofing the mac address...
