Ok, so Sentech posted a message on their wonderful bull**** board that they have made changes to improve the service.

Anyone see any significant improvements? My international is still pretty much where it's been since the 25 August (± 7 KB/s on 256k). Maybe a bit more "spikey" though.

Sadly it looks like whatever they did may have negatively affected local...

Previously during local downloads my latency still seemed fine ... rough info shows latency spikes on local sites when downloading ... may indicate that the bandwidth manager is now being applied to local sites ... hope I'm wrong ...

Doing some tests now ....

While downloading from a local site:
43 packets transmitted, 42 received, 2% packet loss, time 42019ms
rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 86.007/412.025/2721.542/449.338 ms, pipe 4

No download running:
42 packets transmitted, 42 received, 0% packet loss, time 41038ms
rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 101.470/259.657/606.244/134.034 ms, pipe 2

Something seems different

Well, I must admit, as of today, from about 14:00, speeds seem to be back up to what they should be. I haven't seen speeds like this in ages! I just hope it'll stay like this.
At first I thought it might have something to do with my nasty e-mail I sent them yesterday, but chances are that they'll only read it in 3 weeks time and take another 3 weeks to respond.[xx(]

I'm downloading as much as I possibly can while I got good speeds![}:)], I doubt it'll last long though. I'm on Base Station 50 by the way, the Hurlyvale tower I think.

Well I'm also on Tower 60 (don't know if its the same Tower 60) and my speeds are also up tonight.

getting average 13-14kB/s on P2P. 11kBps on single thread international dl and spikes of 16kB/s.

Yes, SPIKES![:0] No more table mountain, my bw graph looks like the himalayas!

I think my tower 60 is Woodmead... Yeah it is I remember one of them support dudes telling me... but he could have been guessing... I am in Suninghill

My speeds have definetly improved all round... I dont do much P2P but I downloaded some stuff tonight and on average came down at 6- 7kB and sometimes reaching speeds of 9-11kB... lotsa of spiking... Int BW speed test indicate speeds at 7-12kb/s fluctuates all the time.

Could they be using real contention? Seems that way to me...

Noone... I suggest you move your modem around

72.56 Kbps
(9.07 KBps)

82.32 Kbps
(10.29 KBps)

54 Kbps
(6.75 KBps)

the above is the same int speed test repeated 3 times.

It does certainly look like contention is at play here. I just hope that Sentech can keep it up. I sure as hell ain't getting my hopes up... Sentech has turned me into a cynic!

my connections averaging at around 9-11KBps on international. My torrents seem to be decent, and browsing isn't too bad. Overall, I'd say this is the kind of bandwidth I'd expect!

I think they might be testing the contention with 128k users only for now.... gawd, hurry up and fix it already

Well, making a comment on here for me tends to jinx things - but here goes ...

Nice work Sentech ... looks like someone made a change or 2 on the Bandwidth manager ;-)

*But* .. I always have a but on any comment ;-) ... Anyone notice that latency(ping times) to international sites have not been so lucky ... bbc.co.uk ping have more than doubled ....

Change seems to have occurred around 16:30 for me ...

I take it from noone and vowthorns posts that this is only for the 128K users ? ... Anyone on 256/512 that have also seen an improvement ?
