Fibre noob. So. I got connected using my laptop directly plugged into the CPE. I was told by Afrihost that to get my router (Archer c50) working from the CPE I just needed to switch off the CPE for 20min and the mac address would be flushed.

However I still can't get the router connected. It's set to dynamic ipe on the Wan settings. After struggling a bit I plugged in the laptop and it was still working. So seems. It's still with the laptop Mac. I also tried copying the laptop Mac on the router to see if I could fool the CPE.

Anyone know if there's a way to change the first device.

Ps: this whole first device thingy seems weird. Shouldn't you get internet thorough all the CPE ports for any decide connected?

Afrihost can login to the Vuma portal and release the MAC address via the portal.

As for the ports from what we were told is that it’s for other services such as IPTV, voice, etc...

Seems that I needed to leave the router plugged in for a while. I initially thought I needed to leave the CPE off for 20m.

Still not getting my 20mbs symmetric. Will have a look over time

Sorry to bring up an old post. My fibre isn't activated yet but I just realised I did the same thing to order my package.

So to get it to work you just left the router connected for a while??? it then "decides" that the routers mac adress is the one that should be locked? I don't really understand why it needs to lock to a mac address in the first place.
