It's a culture thing here in RSA.

Tip jars everywhere, christmas boxes, the list goes on..

Even the ones who provide an ottricious service still have the audacity to ask for tips.

Does anyone know what the root cause was for the Home Affairs system failure. Was it network related.

When they ask you for a tip just ask them if they take visa or mastercard.

Reminds me of cashiers at resultant asking for tips when u buy takeaway..
tel them to go fly a kite,
tips for takeaways?, that's just ridiculous beyond words.

what next? cashiers in supermarkets asking for tips?
or people cleaning the streets, asking for donations to do their jobs?

Management of O. R. Tambo International Airport said it would ensure that it cracked down on employees who ask passengers and airport visitors for tips.
Nothing will happen

Yep. And every street intersection has another asking for something. If I gave a 'buck' to each of them, I would soon be there with them also asking for a few coins.

/sigh

Best you guys don't go over to the States, you are even expected to tip even the barber.
Thanks for the heads up. I'll them a skip.

Haven't given change to people in the recent years.. might be related to the economic climate but also the fact that i never really transact with cash.

Reminds of the ad I saw on youtube for car guard tipping via QR code and prepaid loaded on their app.
