Chargable call every 90 days?

Hi,

Is a chargable call still required every 90 days to keep your SIM active, even if you are subscribed to a recurring prepaid data bundle?

I've set up a recurring 100MB databundle, and obviously load R90 or so once a month to keep it going. Will the SIM card suddenly expire if I haven't made a call in 90 days?

Thanks

I think as long as the data bundle is loaded that has the same effect as a call.

I've had a SIM for ~100 days (since Jan 24) and have never made a voice call on it, and it's still working.

But thinking about it it's not the same as your situation - I've loaded once-off bundles each month - it's possible that counts as a call but a recurring bundle doesn't.

Anyway, what happens if the SIM does get deactivated? Can you reactivate it (with no guarantee of getting the same cell number obviously, but that doesn't matter for data)? Or would you have to buy a new one?

Be careful, I've had many SIMs just stop at the final second of the final minute of the 90th day.
