I moved onto Afrihost with my MTN prepaid sim and there you get detailed billing of voice calls.
Noticed that missed call had a charge of between R0.02 and R0.16 and is showing a Call Forward to +27831650000
I queried this with Afrihost and the response was to disable call forwarding, which I never had activated.
I then went and ran all the USSD codes to disable any call forwarding and it still kept happening.
Logged another 2 calls with Afrihost and got the same response to run the USSD codes to disable call forwarding and I did it again yet it still happens.

That's forwarding to voicemail isn't it?

No voicemail includes you own number with some additional prefix. Initially I also thought it's voicemail but then remembered that your own number needs to be part of the number else it won't reach the correct voicemail box

I'm having the same fight with MTN

I have escalated to the consumer protector in Feb 2025 already, but as with all things government, the wheels don't turn slowly, they don't turn at all.

I am tempted to port to Vodacom but will I encounter the issues as MTN.

How is MTN allowed to deduct money like this?

MTN appears to be full of dodgy criminal types. In a sim swap two years ago, they managed to access my online banking.
Vodacom I've not had problems with. So far.

has anyone managed to resolve this issue as I have this issue with a few MTN SIM cards.
I have tried all the possible ussd codes to switch off /disable call forwarding without success

Just move to Vodacom.

I never managed to get it right either and gave up.

The voicemail forwarding no longer uses your number in the call forwarding. It sends the call to that number and the clid identifies the mailbox, or voicemail lite service message.

Just had this same issue and came here. Requested support from afrihost as it is impacting my afrihost sim.

@AfriGuy or @Afrigirl any ideas if this is right or wrong? Is it expected behaviour to be charged for voice mail forwarding?

Just had support tell me it must be something I subscribed to - i.e. canned response, not reading it.

@AfriNatic anyone? Can someone at least tell your support to read the ticket!?

Any one know who the right afrihost support rep is? Maybe it's not any of the ones I've atted?

Add ons and promos or not this is about call forwarding to the number as per the thread which means it's for VM...
Like below just taken from the afrihost app now now.

If I dial
*#/67#
It now says all forwarding when busy is disabled but earlier in the month I'm guessing it didn't.

Just called myself now and it said voicemail-lite service it will send an Sms and it did... So sounds like I've killed my voicemail now...

What I'd rather is voice mail I'm not charged for... :)

Please don't delete the screenshot it only has call forward to MTN VM line charges now!
