Charities and credit card fees

I'm wondering if charities get hit with the same 1-2% fee that other shops have. I make a monthly donation via credit card and now realise that it's quite crap if the charity gets stuck with the fee. I pay online not through a card machine if it makes a difference. Anyone have any information on this?

They get charged the same fee. I was the FM at an NPO and setup their card facilities. We did not receive any discount on merchant fees.

That's super crap! Doing efts from now on so that I pay the fee not the charity.
