Read beyond the first page of Google , and if you think the Apartheid museum is fair reflection , then you are in need of more experience

Care to share? You know you want to? You're biting at the bit to spew out incoherent garbage too right?
Well, here's your platform. let's hear your take on the subject. I bet you're just as learned as that other fella up top with the great mind and unmatched wisdom

Go on - what did you find on page 2 of Google?

Everybody who has a net income of R100k+ a month and R50m in the bank is privileged, no matter if they are white or black

The fact that a number of people on this forum think that the sentiment

"White people had it better under apartheid"

Is worthy of debate, boggles the mind..
That's the thing I still don't quite get about idiots arguing indisputable fact.
Why do they do it? What motivates somebody to have facts presented to them in a concise manner and they choose to reject said facts.

It boggles my mind too. Boggles my mind even more when dumbfarks quote their age like it's relevant to the conversation and we should automatically assume because they're somewhat mature they know EXACTLY what they're talking about.

Hilarious.

Wernerdp - go on then, let's hear your apartheid-denial logic and don't forget to start with how old you are if you want your argument and learned experience to be taken seriously.

It is an indisputable fact white people are no longer privileged in South Africa. The only privilege that exist today is black privileged. Indisputable. Why dwell on the past when we need to see who currently alone has privilege to succeed?

Valid points.
Though the topic of conversation was around the apartheid experience according to the Theron lady.
The topic which it would appear many disagree with her on. Which in itself is pretty ridiculous.
That's all. Every other diversion from the topic is ….pointless.

Valid points.

So, is or was 'privilege' itself a bad thing? Growing up in a country, under the circumstances, having 'privilege' and using it to educate oneself, start businesses, or get employed and help growing businesses, building an economy, creating jobs, helping many millions of people to put food on their tables and look after their families... is that 'privilege' really that bad if you use it? Is it really that bad if it is that same 'privilege' that made the top 6 ANC members and their families millionaires and billionaires? Giving millions of people free electricity? Grants?

If it really is that bad, is it not equally that bad that it happens today?

So, back to Charlize, why would you constantly need to remind yourself of that 'privilege' when the roles are reversed, you no longer have it but the very same people wanting you to acknowledge it enjoys it currently - across the globe? Sounds devious, right?

Are you really pushing the narrative of apartheid being a good thing?
Do you agree with the Theron lady or disagree?
It's actually quite a simple question.

Ooooi.... hellno... leave me out of this.
"We" definitely had it better.... absolutely, jesus it's not even close...
"We" still do, globally even, on a gaussian distribution depending on which slicing factor you choose (with some exceptions here and there).
Protip 1: You only miss the point completely when you're unable to get your mind out of the trap of inter-sectional politics.
Protip 2: The ability to agree with people like myself who believe "whites" had/have it better while being unable to get your mind out of the trap of inter-sectional politics gets you into some really dangerous territory where the bigotry of low-expectation rears its ugly head... please tell me more about that? Extra points for using Haiti as an example.

I sincerely hope they don't let you cross the street all on your own.

No, read what I am saying. White people had so-called privilege before. Black people has privilege now. If it is wrong for one, it should be wrong for the other. It cannot be that only black people are entitled to privilege. So, you have privilege, I had privilege, we all have or had privilege.

All I am trying to say is that privilege is not really a bad thing. It is not something anyone has to go around confessing or admitting to all day and all night.

Just the no was enough.

Like I said, what you're rambling on about is a whole different conversation to the topic at hand.

Perhaps start your own thread where likeminded folks can hop on to shoot the shite about the good ol' days.

And good ol' current ones?
Sure.

It must be said though, I'm on the exact same page as you about the shite situation we find ourselves in currently, in this messed up country of ours.
As a student of history though I can say that denying the facts of the past doesn't help anything.

That being said . . . Here's my take on it all.

History has an uncanny way of repeating itself. Though not repetition in the true sense. The oppressor becomes the oppressed and the oppressed the oppressor. We've seen it in other parts of the world throughout history. We've seen it in more localized parts of the world. We've seen it here. It's just a matter of time before it all changes again. It's inevitable. We will never find a balance nor will we ever, as a species, achieve that Utopia we all so need. The characteristics of historical change though is a gradual thing.
