Just the no was enough.

Like I said, what you're rambling on about is a whole different conversation to the topic at hand.

Perhaps start your own thread where likeminded folks can hop on to shoot the shite about the good ol' days.

think your rather disrupted the normal circle jerk of the usual brigade that forms , whenever someone articulates their experiences under apartheid that runs counter to their view. By now they would have engaged in their multi vector , mob/ hoppie lê vituperative attack -

So she said -
I obviously am a white person who benefited from my white privilege. I grew up during the apartheid era, I benefited from it.

Which is categorically a factual statement as Apartheid conferred legal privileges onto white people. She was specifically talking about the privilege she had as a white person in Apartheid South Africa.

Yet, the majority of people have seethed with rage at her statement of fact.

Can someone illustrate what was wrong with what she said?

Apartheid conferred legal privileges onto white people.

And so does the ANC with AA and BEE among things, right. Confer legal privilege using questionable laws onto black people?

You do not see anything wrong with this?

a vague nonsense statement, she might as well have said she benefited from the holocaust, her not being a jew and her ancestors not being persecuted clearly was a benefit no?

she fails to say in what specific way she reckons she befitted, which makes it impossible to analyze, you however speak of legal privileges for whites, you can also become more specific than that, how about the right to vote?

if that was on your list best remove it right away, she was born in 1975, the first election she could vote in was 1994 ... you know, when everyone else could as well

You folks do realize she was speaking in the past tense right?

"South African actress Charlize Theron recently spoke about growing up during apartheid in South Africa and how, as a white person, she benefited from the system."

Essentially what she said is true. Unless people are of the opinion that in apartheid SA people classified as White did not have more privilege?

So confusing when people go against, and get all riled up about obvious facts. It's hilarious.

Personally, I can't stand the creature, but just because she said it doesn't make it untrue.
She's just stating the obvious to stay relevant and being the good ol SA boere meisie who struck gold as is expected of her.
If she really gave a fk about anything how bout the blatant child abuse she's subjecting her kid to.

It is an indisputable fact white people are no longer privileged in South Africa. The only privilege that exist today is black privileged. Indisputable. Why dwell on the past when we need to see who currently alone has privilege to succeed?

lmfao.

So she was allowed to go to better schools that black kids were not allowed to go to? She was not forced to go to underfunded schools built in squalor?

Her family was allowed to live where they wanted to?

Her family could go where they wanted without being subjected to the pass laws?

Sounds like privilege to me?

Lol people don't understand what privilege is.

I'm privileged because I didn't grow up in a shack. It is was it is. Do I owe anyone anything. Fsck no.

Stop falling for the socialist propaganda. It is okay to be privileged. It is a good thing.

I can say that denying the facts of the past doesn't help anything.

Hmm, my problem is the denying of the facts of the present.

ie the crime, looting, corruption, nepotism, incompetence, etc.

As far as priviledge goes... white and male priviledge suck the most. The best priviledge to have now are ... in no particular order...
Transgender priviledge
Homosexual priviledge
Semite privilege
Black priviledge
Woman priviledge.

In fact, I think we should demand apologies from these groups for their sickening levels of priviledge they enjoy now.

She adopted two black kids.
Nice status symbol.
At 3 years old the male kid claims it's a girl so Charlize goes along with it.
Hard to imagine how screwed up those kids will be in another ten years or so.
Same with Madonna and her lot.

You know you can have more than one thought.

You can equally criticise Apartheid and the ANC.

You can discuss the past and the present.

It's not an either or.

If you find it hard to have more than one thought that's cool.

Yes we white people benefitted from apartheid by oppressing black natives.

Right, so now what is it that you want?

It is your turn to be oppressed by the previously oppressed. Just stick it out. Your turn to oppress again should come soon. You just need to straaaagel a bit before you gain Street cred to be a SJW oppressor.

That right there is one of the biggest problems with those in power (I almost said leadership  ) in this country. And unfortunately it has filtered down to everyman, and people think it's one or the other. You see it with nearly every post right here.

f-ing Laerskool Putfontein ... you might want to reconsider your point

Her family was allowed to live where they wanted to?
one word: Benoni

Her family could go where they wanted without being subjected to the pass laws?
Charlize was 10 years old when the pass laws were repealed entirely

Sounds like privilege to me?
Sounds like straw clutching to me.
