Cheapest big screen 4K TVs in South Africa - February 2024

Damn that's some low prices on those 70"+ TV's.
Starting to reconsider if it's worth putting up with all the ballache to get my 120" projector mounted in the new place.

Sure those TV's won't break any image quality records but neither does a 3000 lumen projector when you don't have a properly dark room.

Or need to replace the bulb.

Uugh that too yeah. (take it from someone who experimented with knockoff projector lamps, having a mercury vapour lamp explode in your living room is not fun, pretty sure I shaved off a few years of my life expectancy that day)

And taking the thing down every few months to get rid of that damn "please clean filter" message.

Don't get me wrong, there's something magical about the image softness and movie theatre effect you get on a large 120" screen, but man, each time I look at that manhole on my high ceiling and think about how tiny that crawl space is.... well, guess I'm getting too old for this sh*t.

haha
Don't even go there.

Used Bigcreen VR on my Oculus quite a few times, it's fun until you realize you can't lie down comfortably for sh*t, in summer you turn into a sweaty mess and each time you want to have a drink or a smoke you have to bounce between realities... nee dankie.

I will say though 3D movies in VR is a thing to behold (hats off to Dredd 2012... jirr that thing in VR 3D was amazing)

Exactly why Apple Vision Pro is a game changer. You stay in this reality. Obviously over time they will have to reduce the form factor to something reasonable.

I can't wait to get my hands on a Condere or Istar TV! Pause.... NAAAATTT

I’m calling it now.

Never heard an inkling of the Condere & iStar brands

Would be nice if someone could fill in the blanks ie. experience.
They're the ones you usually get in those Pakistani cellphone stores.
Takealot just made it easier to peddle their crap wares online.

They're cheap shyte Chinese brands basically.
Every Chinese shop and Pakistani "tech" outlet will have them.

So of the 2 Toshiba's at the same price R7999 which is the better one? Would be using a 4K Android TV box as presume both run Vidaa crap?

A critical aspect of TVs is the availability and quality of major apps like Netflix, Youtube, Disney+ etc. work. No use having billions of pixels and supreme brightness but you want to chuck the remote through the screen because some app is slow or not responding.

Nice to see the prices dropping on 65" tv's. Still happy with our 55" 4k for now, when the 85" drops to below R10k we will pull the trigger.

The TCL's come with Google TV and decent enough specs for the "smart" portion.
In-app navigation is nice and smooth.
