That is a good deal, if it is true. 24*50=R1200...

I saw that deal, but it is Smartcom. I hate them. I had a vodacomsp contract for more than 3 yrs, but because I'm not a permanent employee ever they don't want to give me a contract.

I would go as far as pay the full 24 months upfront but I don't think they want my money.

any1 take out the contract and I'll pay you R1500 for the card cash , LOL

Tjeep Card

Not a bad deal if you are going to be using less than 500 Meg per month.
A really "cheap" way for anyone to get connected, 50 bucks gets you connected and then you choose what you want to pay for bundles.
I went through all the connection costs a while ago and 3G (Vodacom) is the cheapest way to be online IF you download less than 1GB. From the 1 GB point it becomes cheaper to go the ADSL route....but that becomes a whole new issue...its fixed line... and you get to deal with TTTTTelkom..

If I find my document with all the connection costs I will post it somewhere.

Heh, would be nice. Ever noticed "E&OE" on these ads?

I wonder if Dominic could comment on how well E&OE stands up in court...

IANAL, but, from your link:
It wouldn't override statutory rights, and therefore, in this case, it wouldn't reasonably be able to use it to say "oh we meant to put +VAT on the page - it was an error we didn't".

Now, R50 vs R99 on a contract cell phone package is bordering on that. A lot of people will spend a lot more than R50 per month after call charges, so it could be assumed to be a way to "attract business".

Of course, they did apparantly offer it "as is" to the people who did respond (from another post above), and then withdrew the offer. Withdrawing the offer is acceptable.

I was at Vodaworld and saw the offer - they were prepared to give it to me but wanted all my details - bank balances, tax forms, credit card statements, medical aid, letter from my old school's principal, letter of recommentation from the president, etc etc etc as they are not linked to Vodacom SP so I dropped the idea....... Pity its not at a VSP affiliate.

Its still available, getting mine!!

Want 3 months bank statements, last pay slip and copy of ID. Pretty standard for new cell phone contracts i think.

They are they are part of the Vodacom Group just that they still operate independantly whilst VSP was absorbed into Vodacom.

Maybe this should be posted in MTN but here it goes anyway.

Mtn datacard

1. R2400 cash (no data or a/t)
2. 1399 + 9.99*24 = R1640 ( no data or airtime)
3. R75 *24 (R75 a/t pm) = R1800 (with 1800 airtime) so actually card is free)

I think I will go with this option.
Mtn said 24 hours for credit checks

I heard about some ppl get a antenna and headset with the card, should it be normally included?

IANAL but AFAIK under SA law advertisements are defined as an "invitation to do business" rather than an "offer of sale", so effectively they're not binding.
