But a fridge will last 24 hours if not opened and closed, freezer can go up to 38
What nonsense are you spewing forth again? A fridge can stay cool in the African summer for 24 hours with no electricity? What utter BS! Stage 4 in summer will make your food go off before the expiry date, even if you do not open it.

Yes, yes it can, you know those things around the door, those are seals. That keeps the cold air in.
You know how I know this, because I've lived it numerous times, if your food is going off during stage 4 load shedding, fix your fridge.

I think BA is confusing a fridge to a cooler box.

Stage 4 is only 2.5hrs?

My 18 year old fridge keeps the cold in for longer than. I used to have a try thermometer on my fridge but can’t recall the figures.

But I’ll check what it rises by next loadshedding - though 18.00

Then why have I noticed my food going off at about double the rate @Stage4? If this was true then why does a fridge go on every 30mins-1hour to keep the temp up? Please tell us more about these fridges that can keep cool with no electricity for 24 hours in 30 degrees temps. My modern day Bosch can`t keep my food from spoiling but your fridge keeps cool for 24 hours LOL!

It keeps some cold air but it starts to loose cold almost immediately in summer. It only takes a higher few degrees a day to start impacting the shelf life of food negatively. A fridge goes on very regularly to stay cool. Thinking that 2.5 hours of not going on has no impact is not thinking clearly. I am certain that science will back my claim, I have noticed food going off before the expiry date. I have noticed the warmer air in my fridge after 2,5 hours of LS. If it was true then why does a fridge use so much energy per day if it can go on only once every 24 hours and work correctly?

A cheaper solution is to freeze some of those cooler box icepacks and then move them to the fridge during LS to "absorb" some heat which may enter the fridge. In Cape Town I've not seen food spoil faster during LS but then the temps here are not that extreme.

I think the food at the shops is also not getting the required low temps. Yes, after I noticed my food going off before the expiry date, I started to do the ice block thing and has resolved the issue. I can feel the fridge being colder with the ice blocks in after a LS.

This is the problem. I think they are simply selling everything, whether it was thawed or not.

Check your fridge as all that does show is your fridge is the problem, they aren't supposed to use that much electricity

I have two of those Vizia 150Wh jobs for smaller laptops and Bluetti AC50S for Apple MBPs.
Former are good for 500+ cycles and Bluetti claims >1000 cycles but only uses 90% of its 500Wh battery due to overprovisioning. It's only 300W output with 450W peak but the MBP has no issues with that. It had a problem with the Vizia units not being able to power it.
For ONT and routers use Ellies Cube Mini (which never drops a single bar even on 4h) and Vizia mini ups which claim they use LG chem Lithium batteries.

Unless if your lights are off 24 hours a day or your house hold opens the fridge a lot during loadshedding your food should be fine. Like others have suggested the shops could also be a problem point . Perhaps loadshedding has affected the fridge in a way get a service check.
