Cheapest uncapped ADSL services

I am with Myisp on their 3 gig 384 package. Time to go uncapped.

it would be nice to show what type of limits (eg. afrihost 20gig) or throttling (mweb ) are implemented, and then from there you would be able to choose the best one.

Its not about the price of the uncapped anymore, its about what Quality of Service you get from your ISP!

I would rather pay an extra R100 and get a better quality of service, than get the cheapest one, and then download 10 gig and get throttled to 56k

Axxess no longer sells the Basic Uncapped account displayed here. I think too many people complained about poor speeds and they pulled the offering!

EDIT: Noticed just now that they have removed all that states satellite from the Uncapped Express. I think its after the downtime of seacom that they actually noticed that its in fact a fibre and NOT satellite offering.
They also renamed the Uncapped Express that sated SAT3 bandwidth to Seacom bandwidth. Lol

Yeah - was also looking for their uncapped offering but couldn't find it anywhere on their website. I suppose that's what happens when you jump on the bandwagon without the required infrastructure in place.

Absolutely. Uncapped with no quality of service is useless. There has to be some level of quality as well.

Cheapest uncapped ADSL services revealed

The latest edition of the Broadband Bible provides an overview of the best priced ADSL services in South Africa

Don't be fooled. Axxess may be 2nd on the list, but they shape and throttle 4MB lines down to 1.5 MB lines, (according to local speedtests) So you're not really gettting your 4MB line worth. I don't know if they've done it already, but I heard they want to shut down any more sign-ups to their uncapped offering.

Uncapped = "download as much as you want at the speed you pay for" in my books

couldnt agree with you more

Urg I am so sick of hearing about uncapped... There is NO ISP that can provide any uncapped solution without any type of limitations, and by limitations I mean 1. Contention Ratio's 2. EXSTREME Shaping 3. Thresholds. I will stay on my capped service and pay a little bit extra for a decent service then moving to these pathetic uncapped accounts everyone is raving on about!

I agree! For the past 5 days I've not been able to fully utilize my line. My speeds range from 1.5 - 2.1 Mbit on local speed tests. Note this is for LOCAL downloads - Let's not even talk about international! Axxess goes on to say I'm fortunate to get those speeds and that I should smile and be happy.

Same here, closed 2 afrihosts accounts and got one with mweb. Couldn't be happier. I have an apple tv and my downloads never gets throttled. In fact, as i am writing this I am downloading at 434KB/s and I have already done 187GB for the month

Afrihost doesn't provide true uncapped 4MB ADSL. Maximum theoretical download of just over 200GB per month. Look at their bull**** bands and work it out.

Suit yourself. I'm on MWeb's 4MB uncapped and I'm getting awesome performance, not to mention downloading in excess of 10GB a day.

Can we have an ongoing poll about quality of service?
I want to change my ISP becasue of poor service, but don't know who to go too!
I am also prepared to pay a premium for good service!

Also, if you consider that MWeb now offer all-inclusive options (ISP + Line Rentals), they're 2nd on the list price-wise for every category (If you add line rentals to the ISP costs for other SPs).

Granted...It all depends on your specific needs however I am sure you can get a 10 GB account for much cheaper than a 4meg uncapped account. You will most probably have to use at least 18 GB in order to fully make use for what you pay for. I like my full line speed; and once the 10meg lines are in I will even enjoy it more. I have been on a few uncapped solutions and none of them gave me the same performance as my capped service.
