Best movie and popcorn combo prices in South Africa

Visiting the cinema is becoming increasingly expensive, with a movie ticket averaging over R100 — and then there's the cost of snacks on top of that.

However, by taking advantage of the promotions cinemas are offering to win back their pre-pandemic audiences, the price can become much more affordable.

Going to my cinema/bioscope of choice later for D&W, it went up to 80 buck now.



I always plan in advance which snacks I “smuggle” in. This is my foursome planned, variety jam. Possible optional BK.

Quick moan.

Went to Imax last week for Deadpool. Don't usually bother with popcorn etc. but the group I was with was getting so we all got popcorn and drinks. Pick up 3d glasses from the food counter & ask if we can order snacks. No - you need to order from the self-service machines. Go to machine, get the order placed - ERROR. Next machine - ERROR. So now all the machines have an error. Now have to queue to order at the counter anyway. After a few minutes - machines are working again! Back to machine, place order. Now back to an even longer queue to collect the order.

Fs. You can't even order snacks online - can only do that when you order a ticket? They have all this online apparatus but don't offer the ability to use your phone to buy things - still have to queue at their stupid machines to buy a popcorn.

I'm not going to ask where you plan on hiding those. Especially that Guava juice.

Technically, the cheapest way, is to have a friend let you in for free.

A friend of mine told me a story, how he went with a friend of a friend and watched a movie, halfway through they got booted out.

One could also; find the db board that supplies the cinemas electricity and Google the movies run time.

Then, 10 minutes before the movie ends have a friend cut the power, they will issue everyone with a refund ticket.
