Cheapest ways to use the Internet in South Africa – ADSL vs Mobile vs Fibre

Telkom is taking the lead in delivering affordable products.

Yea, not too bad. I think the difference between the high-end plans and the smallest may be too close though? That mandatory line rental messes pricing up :/

1mbps / 10GB = R288.00
20mbps/50GB - R799.00

Just over R500.00 for 20x the speed and 5x the data

Why is only Afrihost on there? Surely there are some other ISP's that offer a better price for the comparison? (Apart from the 1mb offering from Axxess)

Afrihost paid for the press release?

Of course mybroadband continues to exclude crystal web...

But I can do 100GB on a 1Mbps line at less than R3/GB. Cheapest mobile is R9/GB and that's with night data. It's all about the volume and not the speed.

So far when vumaTel come in I am signing for a 50mb symmetrical uncapped service for around 1200 pm. Makes the packages on that article look daft.

Telkom high rental is killing ADSL growth. For R200, the large number of small Users can use 3G.
Its a sham

Meh even if my area gets access to ADSL or Fiber I will still stick with my Mtn uncapped lol. My online gaming works, YouTube streams very good on 240p (If you pause the video for a minute or two, if it's a loooong video), I can download my series or movies, takes a while longer, but comes down. Showmax works when I am throttled to 256kbps, it's mobile. All for R270 a month. Bargain. :)
