Seriously though, Fiats of recent years have been quite reliable, especially the Panda (and ostensibly the 500, as it's based on the Panda).

I reckon 7.1 is even pushing it ... most the reviews get them tested at mid 7.s anyway.

I mean the Mini Cooper S JCW (155kw) only managed a 6.88 sec - and enhancements over the standard Cooper S include (quoted) sodium-filled exhaust valves, special crank and camshafts, reinforced and polished pistons, modified variable inlet cam timing, retuned through-flow exhaust and slightly upped boost.

On a serious note, Italian cars have finally matched their German counterparts in terms of reliability. We now have a winning combination, the style and flair of the Italian car with the reliability of a German. Best of both worlds.

My father drove the original FIAT Cinquecento Abarth back in Europe in the 70's. He loved it. Personally, I'm not a fan of this new hatchback/hot hatch craze. But that little FIAT looks good.

My iPhone says my 0 - 100 times are in the low 7s, I can even get under 7 on a good run... But a Cooper S is a little faster than me...
