But the police warn people not to take the law into their own hands. Gauteng police spokesperson Director Govindsamy Mariemuthoo says: "People can't be a law unto themselves.

"We don't want this kind of vigilantism, we don't want mob justice. The police are there, phone the police. They will come."

Then why wasnt the phone answered when I called the police about a month ago? The retard should shut up...

Our neighbourhood is a hot crime zone at the moment, people having been killed, but I see little evidence of police presence...

Exactly. Put up or shut up. Prove that we can trust the cops, we're all sick of empty words and promises.

This kind of vigilantism is a clear indication of how fed up people are. It seems that people have no respect or trust for police and our criminal justice system.

Yep, yep and yep. Of course we have no respect or trust for police and the "Justice" system. Who here honestly believes that if you phone the cops when someone comes to murder your family they'll get there in time?

Anyone?

I can't say as I blame these people either. If someone is trying to hijack you I suppose you might as well try to take him/her/them out because the chances are pretty damned good that they'll gun you down for the fun of it if they don't rape you first.

I've often wondered what my reaction would be if I were placed in an area where a criminal lay hurt and dying...

I guess I would do the same thing.

Callous? Morraly wrong? Unfeeling?

Possibly, but when they are willing to kill you for your celphone I think they give up the right to any sympathy a society would give them.

Perhaps spending your last moments being taumented and spat on is a fitting end to these types who have no value of human life.

More of this type of thing will happen no doubt. Till the police get their act together and actually police (gasp shock horror) the streets then this is the only course open to deicent human beings.

Aw, poor criminals. Suffering so badly. One more accurate close-range shot (I'm thinking to the back of the neck) each and the suffering would have been over...

Notice how ironic that sounds?

Also, criminals will kill you for your socks. Nevermind your phone.

I understand how these people feel. Unfortunately most people are also complacent and won't do anything until it affects them.

I have become very unpopular in my area for kicking the crap out of people that look like they don't belong.

The illegal shebeen is next on my list ........ I bought some extra special fireworks for New Year's.
