I'd rather down a shotgun martini... That's not a car you suggest to someone you care about.

R70k will buy you a decent 2nd-hand car - stay away from Chinese carp.

Anything low mileage and under 3 years old from a reputable motor manufacturer (i.e not Chinese or Indian).

And not a Citi.

Polo 1.4, Fiesta, Yaris...anything with a good safety rating and from the "major" brands (VW, Toyota, Ford, Honda), but NOT a citi golf.

Rofl, ok what would you guys suggest she gets at around R70k?

I personally am looking at getting my wife the new Fiesta around R 150k new. If I had to buy a second hand car I would most prob buy her a Renault Clio in in R 70k range. Renault Clio's are light on fuel and very nippy. Only downside is the price on spares

But they are awesome female cars tbh :)

Certainly NOT a Chery!!

Have a look at second hand stuff for that price, you will have a happier and "living" gf for much longer...unless you are trying to deliberately bump her off for Insurance!! :p

Saw a Renault Clio (2007) - 1.2 16v on Autotrader for around R 70k odd.

If you set on a Cherry, get them at bank auctions. You will save at least 20 grand for a very low mileage one

Start here (AutoTrader - R50k - R75k range), scratch anything from a weird manufacturer. Scratch anything with more than, say, 60,000km. Work through what's left with her, find out what she likes, and go drive the cars.

I know they're not exactly mainstream locally but me'd be looking for a FIAT Panda.

He's not. We've made sure of that. Chery licks donkey balls. I can post a crash test if you're unsure.

Good choice! I had a Panda 4x4 that I did over 50 000 trouble free kms in. Lovely little car.

Sell her your Yaris and get something for yourself. Just dont buy her an expensive wedding ring and tell her that you gave her a discount on the car.
